Lock bike at corner of Ontario and Fairbanks at 1:30 pm. Went into cava for lunch. Came out at 2:05 pm to find bike missing. Used hiplok switch lock to secure bike frame and rear wheel to bike rack. Lock also stolen with bike. Security cameras present on surrounding buildings. I spoke with Thomas from Northwestern Building operations who was helping coordinate with security to retrieve the footage. He has my contact and said would reach out with more information. [On 7/18/26 victim let us know that the bike was recovered: "I am so happy to say my bike has been recovered and it is in large part thanks to you. Someone saw my bike on FB marketplace and was told by a friend that the seller was sketchy. He then checked to see if anyone reported a bianchi as stolen and found my post on Chicago Stolen Bike Registry. He reached out to me about the post. I was then able to coordinate a meet up with the seller and have CPD assist me in getting my bike back. Huge thank you for operating a site like this that can help owners get their bikes back."
