Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was locked to a bicycle rack near Gate 6 at Busch Stadium at approximately 5:20pm. It was secured via a Kryptonite cable extension which was run through the front wheel and affixed to the bicycle frame with a Kryptonite Series 2 U-Lock. Upon returning to the bicycle rack at approximately 7:20 pm, the bike was missing and the U-Lock and cable extension (which was cut) were left on the ground near the rack.

Intruder found set of house keys that were mistakenly left in an accessible area, entered garage, and stole the bike as well as several Dewalt power tools.

Stolen from garage. Not sure how, since garage door was closed when I returned.

I entered my garage that morning to find my bike and my wife's bike missing. There were no signs of forced entry, as the access door to the garage from the alleyway does not lock. I believe that the thief/thieves hopped over the front gate to the alleyway, then proceeded to the garage and removed the bicycles, then left the same way they came. It is very likely that the thieves knew the garage access door did not lock, so just picked a time that no one was around to enter the premises. My wife's bike is a Workswell WCB-R-081. It is all black, with the word "CONFECTION" on the downtube in black decals. It is a pretty small bike, and also has shimano 105 (5800).

Bike was left unlocked on side of house overnight. Kid's trail-behind was attached, but the thief removed the trail-behind.

Bike was stolen from inside a locked gated courtyard of our apartment building with camera surveillance and alley access sometime between 8 am and 8 pm. CSBR received the following email on 5/22/20: I'm happy to relay that because of the registry, another registrant tipped me of what looked like my Pashley Delibike at a Cash America pawn shop in Rogers Park. I went the next day and found my bike in slightly worse condition than when stolen, with the front cargo rack missing. Although I had reported it stolen to the local precinct, when I called 911 from the shop, the officer who arrived could not prove my ownership on my photos and registry entry alone, and was not able to give me possession. I didn't have the serial or frame number, which is apparently the only legal means of proving ownership without a purchase receipt. However, everyone was so convinced that the bike was mine based on all the cellphone evidence I had and the logic of the dates stolen and pawned, etc, they sold it to me for what they paid for it - $70! I strongly encouraged the shop manager to check bikes they take in on the registry, but he replied "it isn't legally required." Oh well!

I keep my bike on a rack on the wall of my garage in Albany Park. I set it up there when I arrived home last night and closed the garage door. I think one of the sensors may have tripped before the door closed entirely, causing it to pop back open.

Left my bike outside the Lakeview athletic Club for about a half hour.

Left work around 5pm from Willis (Sears) Tower and saw that my bike was missing. Bike rack is across the street from the tower.

Bike was stolen from the Architecture and Design building on UIC campus between the hours out 830 and 1530

I am guessing at time because I don't know. My child is a student at Decatur Classical school on Sacramento in West Ridge. They ride their bike to school every day. This bike was a brand new birthday present they had less than one month. Monday, September 17, they rode to school, locked both wheels and frame to bike rack and when they came out to ride home, their bike was gone, as well as the lock. They were taught by the bike store to lock both wheels and frame and had a 6 foot combination cable lock to do so. The school has no cameras and the bike rack isn't within site of front security.

Normally I'd throw the bike inside apartment to be sure but this time I locked it out on the alleyway after going to the gym (10pm). Woke up the next morning at 5am. Gone.

Broke into garage and ripped bike rack off wall with bike locked to it using ABUS lock

Bike locked to metal pole outside or Renallis Pizza on lincoln Ave. I was also outside in beer garden while bike was stolen. Cable was through frame and tire around pole. Cable was secured with U lock. U lock was not around metal pole

I left it outside the CTA Kedzie Orange line station. Left it around 8:15AM, by the time I came back around 4:20PM, bike was gone. I spoke to the CTA staff there, but they said I was the 2nd person to ask them about the bikes. Both bikes were stolen with nothing left. Unfortunately, I took no pictures as I literally just built it on Thursday night. I have filed a police report, but I was only given a "VICTIM INFORMATION NOTICE" sheet.

At some time between 10pm on 9/16/18 and 8:25am on 9/17, my bike was stolen from being locked up on the sidewalk outside 561 W Briar (corner of Briar and Broadway). If you're facing the street from that apartment, it was locked to the middle street pole (the order is street pole, street pole, orange metal bike stand). I had it locked with a U-Lock through both the front tire and the frame, so they didn't cut it, but what they did do is loosened the bolt that keeps the street pole upright and connected to the base of the street pole. After that, I'm assuming they slipped the pole up and either walked the bike away (would have been hard because there was a black u lock on the front tire to the frame, and a smaller silver u-lock on the back tire to the frame), or threw it in a car and continued down the one way street. I've parked my bike in this spot overnight for 8 months, so someone could have noticed that its usually there overnight. I have pictures of both the bike, and the street pole bolt that they took off. The bike itself is a road bike with black wrapped drop style handlebars, a dark gray frame with light gray on the top, slim black tires, gray rims, a black crankshaft, had a white silicone light on the handlebars, and a red coil lock locking the black seat to the frame.
