Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked the bike to a street sign in the morning about 10:30am. I was hanging out at my girlfriend's place the whole day and came down at 7:30pm to find it missing. The bike lock was a longer than normal kryptonite lock. The lock was definitely cut with a saw, not snipped with large cable cutters or the like. The clean cut and lack of jagged edges seems to indicate that it was probably cut with a hand held battery operated automatic hack saw (a manual hacksaw would have left a variable pattern whenever the thief changed his position or cutting speed). The bike was locked at the corner of 31st and princeton across the front entrance from a restaurant called Franco's. The valet says he did not see anyone. I have been parking my bike there for the last year without incident.

My bike was left against an interior fence by the door to the residence. The yard is enclosed by an 8' fence with a lock on it which was closed and locked while I was away. Returned from walking dogs to find the bike had been taken.

I happen to see it happening from my apartment. I saw a black guy cutting my lock. Since I am at 3rd floor, I shouted instead of running. He just took it anyway.

Bike was locked (with many others) to bike rack just outside east entrance of Lincoln Park Zoo for less than an hour Friday afternoon. When we came back outside it was completely gone - along with the lock. (Our other bike, locked up the exact same way, was untouched.)

Bike was stolen from in front of Lincoln Park Zoo east entrance (near parking lot) - locked to bike rack. We were inside for less than an hour and came out to find bike gone.

Stolen from Bike Rack on SW corner of Monroe and Canal in the Loop. Locked the bike at 830am. Checked in after lunch at 130pm and it was gone. There aren't a lot of these types of bikes model on the road nowadays as the Cervelo S1 is discontinued. Red/Black, hard to miss

Bike was locked through both wheels with cable & U-lock around a parking barrier in an enclosed parking garage structure.

Checked on my bike around noon, and when I went to get it at 5:00 it was gone.

Bike was locked to alley-facing wooden porch behind my apartment. They ripped off the wooden pole from the porch and slid the u-lock over the top of it.

Someone came upstairs to my second floor porch on 21st St that is facing the EL tracks by the alley and snatched the bikes I left outside overnight while I was cleaning my floors/walls. I had the Baby blue and white bike frame and the rebuilt Schwinn that is dark grey with pink decals and took them both while my family slept. I did not notice this until my wife notified me the next day while I was gone that someone had come upstairs and taken the bikes. They did not take anything else of value, including another bike... They simply came and stole the bike frame and the rebuild project I had. I thought the gate/visibility to the busy train tracks/4 people being in the house was deterrent enough, but someone was brazen enough to come upstairs at my house while we were all home and take these two items.

U-Lock was unlocked. Probably cut through spokes. Taken on Michigan ave

Bike was stolen off my alley-facing porch overnight. Frame was locked to a cross-bar of a wooden railing, with the cable wrapped around the railing itself. The cross-bar was knocked off with a hammer and the cable was cut. The lock was taken still attached to the bike.

Brought groceries up to my apartment, forgot to lock bike in rear alley of the apartment

Was at work in downtown (canal st & Randolph)

Stolen from locked basement, along with at least one other bike belonging to my husband, possible neighbors' bike as well, other items.

In shared locked basement of a small condo association (trusted neighbors). A number of bikes were found missing. Not sure exactly when they disappeared, sometime between Mon 8/22 afternoon and Wed. 8/24 early morning

Bike was locked to a bike rack at the Clyborun Metra Station on 7/29 at 7:00am and was not found at return the following day 7/30 at 12pm.

The bike was parked at 1pm in a haigh-traffic area. Upon return at 5pm, the bike was gone. There was a part of the lock which was left, which spirals in and out that attaches to the frame of the bike. The bike was completely taken other than that. RECOVERY NOTES: On 8/26, former victim sent an email containing the following text. "[J]ust want to know that yesterday I got my bike back. I went to the Swap-O-Rama yesterday morning but didn't see it. I had been checking Craigslist continuously, and around noon yesterday, a little less than 48 hours since it had been stolen, it posted in Humboldt Park. I texted the guy posing as a buyer, called the police and they accompanied me to the pick-up in Lincoln Park. Thank you so much for your help!"

Left bike locked outside my apartment overnight. Was missing in the morning
