Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked my bike to the top rack at the Loyola Red line station on the Loyola (back) side of the station through the front tire at about 9:30a on Wednesday, August 20. When I got back from work at about 8p on the same day, everything but the front tire and the lock was gone.

I locked my bike with a U lock at the E. Randolph St. and Garland Ct. then went to LA Fitness. When I got out of LA Fitness, my mongoose mountain bike was gone. It happened between 4: 30 PM to 5:15 PM.

I had taken my bike down my front steps of my place and walked back into my place (<5 feet away) to grab my helmet, when the thief grabbed my bike and took off on it. The bike is a month old- a Public C7. The bike is cream and has a cream rack w/ a silver foldable basket attached to the left side of the rack. In the attached picture the rack/basket has not been added to the bike as of yet.

I got out of my yoga class yesterday at 9:00 PM and my bike was gone. Its the bike in the picture. The only difference is that the bar-tape is hot pink.

I locked the bike to the bike rack using my U-lock around the bike rack, front tire, and bike frame around 8:40am. When I returned to the bike rack at 7:15pm after I was done working for the day, the bike and the lock were no longer there.

Last seen around Aug 15. Found missing on August 17. stolen out of Garage in alley off of Webster Ave and Hoyne.

Vintage 1970 Schwinn Collegiate. Bright yellow with black seat and silver rack on back. Rack has a cool sticker that says " chicago art girl". It was stolen on August 17th from the redline Morse stop biking parking area between 10:45am- 1:00 pm in Rogers Park. Please contact me if you see it around town.

Met with friends after cubs game locked bike on bike rack on the corner of Clark and Sheffield was locked securely left out for an hour and was stolen. My bike was almost stolen again the previous week before the incident but lock was destroyed but no theft until the next week.

Bike was stolen out of a closed garage on California/Milwaukee, Logan Square.

Someone came along and cut the cable lock that held my bike and my girlfriend's mountain bike. They took my bike (left hers), and placed a crappy white bike (Huffy 12 LeGrande) in its place.

reported to police, there was another bike with a krypton type lock. I was out of town and returned to ride the following day and to store the bike in my locker which needed to be reorganized before storage was possible.

The bike was left unlocked in the front landing of my apartment, behind a locked gate. It was stolen sometime within 6-10am.

The bike was locked inside my apartment in Lincoln Square. It was not locked to anything, but both of my apartment doors were. My suspicion is that one of the contractors that has been in and out of my building has it, because it isn't exactly visible from the outside, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions or rule anything out.

it appears that one part of the bike rack was unbolted from the frame and potentially slid off the frame. however, there were multiple other bikes on the same rack. other than that, not really sure how it may have been stolen. there were no remnants of the lock anywhere on the ground, and it was a OnGuard 8000 Brute LS quattro bolt u-lock. not sure of the exact date, but it was originally locked up on August 7th, and was discovered missing on August 18th.

On my way to work, I locked my bike up at the Sedgewick Brown Line stop. I removed the front wheel and placed it next to the back wheel. I then fitted the u-lock through both wheels, body of the bike, and bike rack. Upon my return to the bike at the end of the day, I found no signs of a bike or wheel or bike lock. There are cameras on site to which I asked the CTA representative, "Who might I contact to see video surveillance as my bike is no longer there?" His reply was uneducated and referred me to dial 311. I submitted a police report and will be inquiring about the video surveillance from the day.

I parked the bike outside of the Art Institute at 2:15pm on August 18. By 4:15 I had exited the museum and the bike was gone. Another man also had his bike stolen from there as well at the same time. We asked the security guards if there was any video surveillance around the museum and he said not where our rack was. Apparently someone was able to clip two locked bikes in front of the museum in the middle of the day on a busy sidewalk within two hours.
