Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Time and date are guesses at this point, since I wasn't checking on it every day. Hadn't been ridden since fall.

Bike stolen from the locked storage area in the back stairwell. There are two heavy duty security doors, so I can only think that one of them didn't close properly or that someone was watching me come home. Another bike of mine was also stolen (Bianchi road bike, size 57, rim brake in light green with Shimano 105 components, white handlebar tape). The surly was purchased less than a year ago from Comrade Cycles, and has been kept in this same secure location since then with no incident. I will call them tomorrow to figure out the serial number.

My bike was stolen out of my locked garage last night. I found the garage side door open this morning and my bike missing.

This was stolen along with another bike from our building. 8 other bikes were not locked either and they are all still there.

Bike was locked in apt bike storage since November. Noticed the lock was cut today and bike was missing along with a few other bikes. Reported to apartment managers.

The bike was stolen from within the confines of an 8 unit Condo building in Uptown, with fences and locked gates at the front and back. The U-lock went through the front wheel to the frame and a cable was attached to the U-lock and a bike rack. The cable was cut.

I lock my bike up on this rack daily while I am at work. There are other bikes locked to the same rack constantly so I thought it was a safe place. When I came outside last night, the bike was gone and my lock was cut and left on the ground.

The bike was stolen sometime during the school day. The person would have needed to get into the fenced in playground area and then stolen the bike. The lock was cut and left at the scene. There was a pretty constant stream of classes playing outside during the day so there were only small windows of time that it could have been stolen.

The bike was locked in a cage. Someone cut the lock and stole the bike.

Someone has broken into our basement storage unit and cut into the cage to stole the bike.

Left bike outside of mini mart on 18th and Blue Island. In the store for 5 minutes and bike was gone

My bike was on my car bike rack. I was parked in a crowded parking lot in front of a strip mall. I forgot that my bike was on my rack, unlocked, since I was driving straight home from getting it tuned up. I spontaneously decided to make a quick stop at a store. I was inside the store for 15 minutes and when I came out my bike was gone and some of the straps of my bike rack were missing (cut off?). I called the police immediately.

Thieves broke into a residential building through a gangway entrance and stole several locked bikes from the bike room.

The bike was locked in my apartment's storage room, basement floor. The theft occurred on video and the thieves broke the lock and were seen stealing it out of the building in the video. Filed a police report online, awaiting case #.

We are a three-apartment condo. Our condo's garage was forcibly broken into. The burglar smashed the digital deadbolt of the door and stole the electrical bike. The bike was not in use for two months and stored in the garage due to the cold weather.

Garage had been closed and was opened. Bike was on a rack on the wall, and was stolen out of the garage. Two other bikes were locked to the wall, and were not stolen.

Bike thief has stolen 2 bikes from our Condo building on Tuesday at 4:31pm, then came back yesterday at 11:17am for another one. The thief forced open the gate of our Parking Garage and cut the bike locks.

Bike one second floor of building, in enclosed porch area. Taken along with other bikes from basement. Odd part is that this bike was not immediately visible to anyone who just had the opportunity to sneak in. ***On July 4 2021, the victim wrote to CSBR: This one has made its way back to me. Unsure if it's of interest, but it was bought by someone looking to resell up in Gurnee. Said he got it from the flea market down on Ashland.***
