Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was accidentally left unlocked outside Plaza 440 (440 N Wabash Ave). Lock was thread through helmet and bike rack but must not have been properly thread through bike frame itself. Tried to lock up bike around 2:30am and found missing at 10:30am next morning (11/7)

Thief ripped the wooden pole out of the staircase and slipped the lock out from there

Bike was inside private building in the staircase on the third floor. It was not locked because entry to the staircase is controlled by a lock on the front door to the building. No one without a key should be able to enter in the first place.

Went out after work, drank a little too much. Stopped to grab some food (18th and Bishop) and free locked my bike outside (with a newer U-lock, flat key), by the time I made it outside it was gone. I know I messed up, I drank too much and made a stupid decision.

Bike was left at 8am on Wells across the street from Merchandise Mart. I came out at 11:50 and the cable had been cut and the u-lock was left around the bike rack. Strange thing was that the cable had been cut in the middle but not on the loops which had been put through the u-lock itself. so why weren't they cut? Also I'm 100% sure it was through tire and frame and then around bike rack withing u-lock plus the cable went around bike frame and into u-lock. So it seems to me they had to either comprimise the u-lock and then shut it back on or sawed through the frame and all to get it for scrap. The person who locks infront of me had someone try to take her tire of a week prior.

Locked the frame up to a fence shortly after midnight to run inside a friend's place at the southwest corner of Wabansia and Humboldt for 10-15 minutes. Came out and someone had cut the fence and taken the bike with the lock still locked to the frame.

My roommate left the garage door open for about 5 minutes to let someone in (we live on top of the garage). The next morning I went down to get my bike and it was gone.

Lock was cut, and bike was stolen sometime after 11/2/15 10pm.

2.00pm, Bike was used and locked at bike rack on sidewalk. U-Lock goes through front wheel and frame then bike rack. By 5.30pm when I left work to retrieve bike, only the U-lock is attached to the bike rack. Bike was gone.

Bike locked to wall attached to stud in garage.

Leaned against a pillar of an outdoor Pavillion. Left it unattended for ~20 min, and when I returned it was gone.

Older black man stole the bike around 7:15am after watching the street for a while. As it's a clean cut through the u-lock he likely used an angle grinder. Man is on camera from front of Metro. Locked my bike at 11pm on Sunday Nov 1. On Nov 2 at 8:45 am I was going to class and I discovered that my bike was missing.

Locked my bike right outside of Peet's Coffee on Maxwell and Halsted by UIC. After finishing homework, I walk back to the bike rack to see the only my lock was left there. I know I locked it through the front wheel and frame onto the bike rack. I do it several times a day, and I always make sure I don't rest the lock on a spoke.

bike was stole between nov 1st 11 pm and 7 am november 2nd, bike rack is in front of the building door, next to 3 bikes, the lock was not cut or broken, the lock still in the rack with the front wheel.

A person got through a locked gate that leads to the porch of our building. The person went up to the 3rd story balcony and destroyed the wooden railing it was locked to. That person walked past multiple other bikes throughout the complex and did not touch them. A house party occurred the same night in an apartment on the 2nd floor of my building.

Bike was locked in the fullerton train stop. When I got back from from work it was missing and no sign of the lock either.

Biked is usually parked under the staircase, at a place which only the residents have access to. So was usually kept unlocked.

Had my bike in the garage temporarily. Someone working on the apartment building next door must have seen it and come back over night.
