Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike stolen literally right after we moved on Friday Feb6th. Noticed it about 3 days ago.

Someone broke into the garage by forcing open the side door and cutting the cable using tools found in the garage. There are 11 bikes from the neighborhood kids stored in the garage. One was taken.

Unsure when the bike was stolen, between October 2025 and January 2026. The bike was located at the far end of the bike room, double-locked with a heavy-duty bicycle security chain and a U-lock. The locks would have to have been cut open unless the person guessed the combination. There are approximately 50 bikes in the room, and some are not locked up and the bike was at the far end from the entrance to the bike room.

Bike was locked on the bike racks at the Ravenswood Metra station under the Leland street Metra overpass.

I had left my bike locked in a locked bike corral at Loyola University in late August. I have an AirTag on my bike and so today when I opened my findmy app I saw the bike was “last seen” two weeks ago outside the ohare airport.

Neighbor left garage open at 3:10pm, when I returned at 4:30pm it was gone. Unhoused man in alley had been there for 15-20 min, said he didn’t see anyone go in or out while he was there. Likely stolen between 3:30-4pm.

Someone broke into the storage room of our condo building. The bike was unlocked in the storage unit, but there are usually two locked doors before the storage room so this is the first time for our building to have a theft.

Someone broke into our storage unit and stole four bikes. They were behind two locked doors, but the bikes themselves were not locked in the storage area.

Bike was locked to a bike rack at the corner of LaSalle and Washington in downtown Chicago, during business hours. Someone cut through the U-Lock.

Garage door was somehow opened, likely with a jack, and bicycle was removed from the premises. Bicycle was seen again on camera on 2600 block of Evergreen being used by a burglar robbing cars.

Returned from a trip to find my bike missing. Time entered is when I found it gone

The bike was out side of my apartment when I chose to ride the mopad scooter I came home and it was gone along with my black tarp.

On the evening of 1/7/2025, at approximately 11:30 PM, I secured my bicycle to the rear wooden staircase of my apartment building using a cable lock with a combination. The staircase is connected to the street and to an alley by a narrow sidewalk, with a metal gate on both sides of the walkway, which is normally kept closed. The area is illuminated by a sidewalk well light. When I returned at approximately 5:30 PM the following evening of 1/8/2026, the bicycle was missing. There was no trace of the lock, including no cut cable or broken components left behind. Due to the narrow width of the sidewalk between the staircase and the street, it would not have been possible to remove the bicycle toward the street side. Based on the layout, the bicycle would have had to be removed through the alley. The alley provides access between Whipple Street and Sacramento Street. The theft likely occurred sometime between 11:30 PM and 5:30 AM. No witnesses are known at this time.

Bike was locked to the rack in the morning and gone along with the lock and helmet at night.

Locked my bike outside my gym at 3:45pm, and when I came back out at 5pm I saw that my lock had been cut, my bike stolen, and my helmet was left behind. The picture attached is an example, I couldn't find a picture of my bike.

Went out to back porch at around midnight on January 3rd and realized my bike was missing. I remember seeing it on the 1st, so I believe the bike was stolen at some point on the 2nd.

Went down to my apartment complex basement and my bike and the bikes on the bike rack have been stolen.

Bike was parked in the gated back lot of my apartment. I noticed the bike in my building when going out of the house this morning, but after going on a walk in the evening I noticed it missing. I believe it was stolen from my parking lot sometime between 2:30-5:00PM.
