Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was lock outside apartment building for about 2.5 hours. During that time it was completely stripped for parts.

I last noticed the bike locked where I had left it around 10pm. I came back at 1am to retrieve the bike and it was gone. It was located just north of Woodie's bar on Wells Street in Old town, south of North Avenue, outside State Street Barbers.

The bike was in my kitchen. Back sliding glass door was unlocked. at around 2:00 am I found the bike missing and the back door open.

I locked my bike to a bike rack on the side of the building. I locked the bike with a U-lock through the front wheel and through the frame. When I woke up this morning, the bike was missing and half of the lock was sheared off. There were many other bikes at the same location.

The bike was in the back by the back door. The gate that leads to alley was secure and tall but they somehow managed to jump the fence and open gate to exit.

Bike was in my apartment building's shared laundry room/bike storage room. A key is required to enter the courtyard and the laundry room. I left it at around 4:30 PM on Wednesday, July 8 (2015), and found it missing at 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 9. I must have forgotten to lock it (I never forget--until then anyway). Thief ripped off the crate sitting on back rack and left it at scene with helmet and closed U-lock.

Some jerk stole my bicycle off of my front porch near Damen and Erie. It was purposefully the most unappealing, total utilitarian beater of a bike and someone hopped my locked fence and stole my locked bike off my front porch.

Classic Schwinn Cruiser blue bike with white inner tires, streamers, bell, and big seat. Locked at designated/covered bike rack at the Clybourn Metra stop (Armitage & Ashland). Locked at 6:30am July 8th. Found stolen at 6:30am July 9th.

Bike was locked with another bike to a bike rack in front of the Art Institue of Chicago.

Locked this bike plus another in front of the Art Institute of Chicago to a bike rack. Came out 2 hr later and it was gone. Very public spot but no cameras and no security guard.

I went to my job at the local card store at 1pm and locked up my bike to the pole in front of the store. I worked in the store for 3 hours then when I came out my bike was gone. The lock was still attached to the pole but the bike was gone. Someone was sitting near the window the entire time and cannot recall seeing any activity, and another person in the shop came and left and did not notice anything.

I have not used my bike since the fall and was going to ride it Monday night. When I went down to our bike room I noticed it was missing. The bike room is a locked room/area next door to the laundry room in my building. This room is only accessible in the back of the building. The back of the building is only accessible through each unit or through a gate leading in from the ally. This gate is locked too.

Bike was locked to car bike rack 1 night overnight.

I was practicing yoga at an outdoor yoga event on the Great Lawn at Soldier Field. My bike was locked up with several others on a rack near the port a potties by the vendor row right adjacent to the East wall of Soldier Field. When I returned to the bike area at 1 pm, my bike and lock were missing.

Bike was locked outside of Logan Square Blue Line stop to the bike rack facing Milwaukee/Kedzie. A group of 6 men were surrounding the area and one left a note under the cut lock claiming to know the location of the stolen bike including his phone number and tried to persuade me to follow him to Kedzie and Albany. He described my bike perfectly as he was trying to get me to follow him, noting that the handle bar grips were missing (recently stolen) as well as the color details, claiming that he sees me and my bike every day. Left the scene with note an broken lock, police report filed.

The bike was locked to a wooden stairway support pillar (very sturdy, concrete-mounted into the ground) in the parking area behind my apartment building and accessible from the alleyway. I left town for two weeks. Upon returning, the bike and the combination cable lock, which had been locking the bike's frame to the wooden support pillar, were both gone without a trace.

I hit the train tracks weird at Cermak and Loomis and fell reallly hard. Someone crossed the street to help me up. I was pretty jarred, so I was sitting on the ground trying to catch my breath. He checked to see if I was okay, asked for money, and then rode away with my bike. He is a white male in his late 30s early 40s. Probably 5'7"-5'11" 150-180 pounds.
