Incident Description:
CSBR received an email on 9/19 regarding the RECOVERY: a member of one of the Chicago stolen bikes fb groups spotted it on Broadway and Wilson. So I took the train up there and had called the cops but after about 20 mins, they still hadn't shown up. The guy who had the bike cruised up to the intersection but traffic had stopped him so I ran up and grabbed the bike by the bars and seat and said, "you aren't leaving with my bike". From there, the cops showed up and since there wasn't any proof that that person had been the one who stole it, I just got the bike and we all kinda just went our separate ways. I had my bike sitting right in front of Windy City Gyros while I was inside picking up an order. There were about a dozen elevator worker union guys in the store at the time. While in line I could fully see the bike. Until I stepped up to the cashier and asked for my order I could still see it. In the 30 seconds where I wasn't able to see the bike, it was taken.

How was the bike locked?:
Not locked.
How long was the bike locked in this location?:
6 hours
Incident Description:
My bike was in the enclosed back porch area of my apartment, not visible from the outside. I think one of my neighbors left our back door unlocked and someone entered and stole my bike. This occurred sometime between 2pm and 10:30pm. RECOVERED: I had been checking several online marketplaces weekly-ish since it was stolen last August. It showed up on OfferUp this week looking exactly the same as when it was stolen. Set up a meeting with seller and was able to convince both the guy selling the bike (who wasn't the thief) and the cops that it was mine because of all the things I'd added and that it even still had the sticker from my shop on it.
