[On 8/19/24, victim reported that the bike had been recovered: "I was able to recover my bike today at the park it was stolen from. I ended up putting my bike description and contact information on Bike Index, Garage 529 & the Chicago Stolen Bike registry the moment it went missing and I feel like that was a good start to recovering the bike. Great services all around! I ended up searching at a local bike shop that was notorious for reselling stolen bikes near the park where my bike was stolen and had zero luck. I thought maybe it wouldn’t hurt to walk around the park and funny enough-- it was there with two teenagers on their phones. Was able to get an accurate description of the guys and verify it was really my bike by walking by them with my phone in my hand to record inconspicuously. The police were then notified and were able to apprehend them and get my bike back with just the lights missing, the handle grips swapped out & a different cupholder installed. Hope this information helps, once again thank you for having this site up for people to begin the process of recovering their bikes!!"] Fished for largemouth bass at the River Park dam spillway and left my bike underneath the bridge between the main park/soccer field & the North Park Holmgren Athletic Complex baseball field. I was fishing the point where the water spills over for about an hour and a half, and when I returned to my bike it was gone. I had stowed my bike in the gated area underneath the bridge. The bike is an XL 2020 Gray Specialized hybrid bicycle with mechanical disc brakes, adjustable front shocks, front and rear Cat Eye lights & a kick stand.

[ On 7/28/24, the victim notified us that the bike had been recovered: "I posted today about a stolen 2018 LIV Avail. I just wanted to update you guys and say we recovered the bike in under 24 hours somehow. The person who stole the bike, sold it to someone on the street. That person posted it on Facebook marketplace to find the owner because he knew it was stolen, and we were able to pick it up! Thanks for this resource though. We had a few people reach out who helped us use multiple channels to find the bike!"] At approximately 10:45pm outside of Remedy on Milwaukee Ave, a white male about 50 years old wearing blue shorts, a black backpack, a blue IKEA type bag, and a black hat, used bolt cutters to cut the lock on our bikes. He stole the 2018 Black LIV Avail and then took off northbound on Milwaukee Ave heading towards Western Ave. The bar has video of the entire event and clear still images of the thief. Will provide serial number if found.

[On 6/13/24, victim informed us that this bike had been recovered: "I completed a police report and Detective Jacob from the CPD called a few days later to say he had likely located it at a pawn shop at Lawrence/Kedzie via the serial number provided. He went and picked it up and took it to the 17th district for our pick-up.  He said the pawn shops are supposed to have a 30 day waiting period so this process can take place. I tracked it using my airtag and the police walked with me to Wrigleyville where it was just left next to some trashcans in an alleyway. Very strange, but glad to have it back and in good shape. ===Original Description:=== I locked my scooter on the sidewalk attached to a pole in front of the Accenture Tower on 500 W. Madison St, close to the entrance. around 4:00pm. When I came outside to get it around 7:00pm it was gone, but the bike lock was left on the sidewalk and you can see it was cut through with bolt cutters. Someone saw my bike in an alleyway and felt like it was out of place.  They took it into their apartment and had heard of the stolen bike registry.  They found my listing, reached out to me, and I picked it up. On 11/16/23, the victim reported that the bike had been recovered: "Yes, actually [the CSBR] played a pivotal role. The way I found my bike was a guy saw the listing on OfferUp 3 weeks later, and he got suspicious that the price was so low. So he searched the registry and saw my entry and then texted me, I then confirmed it was mine. I set up a meeting to "buy" the bike with the thief and brought the police and got it back quickly. Thank you guys for the service!" [I store my bike in my house's closed garage. The thief hopped my yard fence and entered garage yard door in rear of garage, that door was unlocked. Bike was not locked to anything inside my garage.]
