Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

A neighbor in our building noticed someone on the back stairs who proceeded to walk around the parking lot and to the front of the building. I checked on our storage area after returning home from work and my bike was missing.

I was away from my apartment for 3 days, and I left my bike locked up outside (as I usually do). I came home last night and it was gone :(

I rode my bicycle to work on Wednesday October 1, 2025. I locked the bicycle to a metal bike rack right outside my office building, at approximately 221 N. Wells St. in Chicago (my office building is 222 N. LaSalle). The bicycle was locked with a Kryptonite U-lock, and both wheels and frame were secured to the bike rack using a lock and cable. When I left work, the bike and the lock were no longer there. I believe this bicycle theft may have been caught on camera. There is a camera at the corner of Upper Wacker and Wells that should show where my bicycle was locked and who and how/when the theft occurred. There also is a Huntington Bank location at that same street corner, and the bank appears to have multiple cameras looking both inside and outside the bank, so those cameras may also show who and how/when the theft occurred.

Discovered bike was missing from my apartment building's locked laundry/bike room on Friday Sep. 26th at 2pm. Last used on Monday Sep. 22nd at noon. Neighbor had left a note saying their bike was also missing, and neighbor stated they noticed theirs missing on Wednesday Sep 24th (no time specified). Bike storage/laundry is a locked room behind a locked gate, no sign of forced entry. Unable to upload pictures of bike, but will gladly share via email if requested—no full frame pics, but pic 1 is of the Minneapolis sticker, pics 2 & 3 are underneath the frame for the serial number but also show the handlebar style and brake cable color. I went into the dentist near the corner of Washington and Michigan avenue at 3 pm and came out around 4:15 and my bike was gone. It was locked to the bike rack outside the entrance on Washington facing the entrance across the street to the Chicago Cultural Center. It was very busy out and went I discovered the bike was stolen, I saw man carrying 2 bikes with locks attached down into the Millenium Station underground. Neither bike was mine and he was moving slowly. I followed him for a while but didn't feel safe proceeding alone. My assumption was that he was taking those bikes to another location underground where someone else was gathering them.

Someone came in through a locked gate and stole the bike from the side passageway. No milk crate as shown in the photo.

Bike was locked at Peterson Metra station in the morning and was missing by afternoon.

My bike was stolen from the bike rack located in front of the building entrance, where other users also park and lock their bikes. Unfortunately, I had only secured the front wheel, which was left behind.

Bike was locked through front wheel and frame to the outside bike rack at the Western Orange Line station between 7:45 & 7:50 am. I returned to this station by 6:15 pm and saw that my bike and lock were both gone.

I was away for a week and when I returned the bike was missing. There were a string of package thefts before this occurred and someone likely has access to the outer locked areas of the building courtyard, etc.

Stolen off third story back patio

Around 10:50 am today, September 22nd in my building’s yard (Coach house) my bike was stolen by an older man (black) dressed in all black clothing. He also stole our plastic patio chairs and a camping chair. The video was caught by our camera. My bike was a 1990s Timberlin crossroads bike from Sheboygan Wisconsin. The bike had a teal to purple gradient frame. It had a distinctive yellow Milwaukee city bike registration sticker from 1994. Attached to the bike was a blue UE Boom speaker, an OI bell, a front and back led light set, orange water bottle cage, and a hot drink sleeve. I don’t know if anyone reads these, but for the public record I want to say that I loved this bike. It was a gift, and I hope to reunite with her someday. Bike was stolen from garage between 4 pm and 5:45 pm

My bike was at the restricted storage of the hospital clinic I worked at and an intruder that got access to the door that was broken, went in there and took my bike.

Thief walked into backyard through and alley gate where the lock had failed and entered a garage that was unintentionally left unlocked.

I locked my bike with a Kryptonite folding lock and a cable lock at the orange rack in front of Century Mall (2828 N. Clark St., Chicago). When I returned from LA Fitness, the bike and everything attached to it, including my white Specialized helmet, were gone.
