Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Sarah Flagg keeps her bike inside our garage. There is a cable looped through an electrical fixture and is run back through the front wheel and secured by an Abus U Lock. It is highly likely the lock and cable were in tact as the bike was carried off into the alley as our electric fixture is destroyed.

Tricycle was purchased in April. Back wheel was removed and handle bars rotated down to fit in car. Last week I stated working on fixing up bike. Lock was purchased to secure to building bike things. Tricycle was last seen at 4 PM on Saturday 15 June 24. The next morning I went to dump garbage ( 16 Jun 24) at 1:00 PM and bike was gone. I was on my way out to meet someone, but noticed an unlocked bike at the front door of my building. I returned home at 8:00 Pm on 16 June and bike was still unlocked at front door to building. I went to the garage and found the cut lock dumped and tossed.

My bike was stolen between 9 pm on the 14th and 10 am on the 15th. The last time we saw it, my dad was moving it into the bushes. The next morning it was gone. Our security cameras didn't capture the theft, but I believe the thief passed through my neighbor's yard. Bike was locked at the corner of Armitage and Mozart in Logan Square. It was stolen between 11:00 pm on 6/14/2024 and 1:15 am on 6/15/2024

I locked my bike to the bike rack on the westside of Ashland just north of the entrance to the UPWN Metra line at 6:40am. The seat and wheels have special locks to prevent being taken without a key. The lock was damaged but still intact. I discovered it stolen when I arrived back to the train station around 6pm.

Bike was locked in front of apartment for 2 hours We left home and came back and it was gone

Bike was locked in a bike rack inside a CTA station (Granville) locked along with another bike but when I came back only my bike was gone along with the lock.

Was moving this past weekend and had to move bike out of previous building’s storage - went back to get it and it was gone. residential bike rack was near corner of buttercup and Ainslie.

I was unfortunately very drunk and fell off my bike late on Sunday night, I think somewhere on Milwaukee headed north towards Armitage. When I fell I stupidly left my bike on the sidewalk unlocked and walked home. In the morning it was obviously nowhere to be seen as it was an easy snag for someone. I was acting stupid and put my own bike in danger but I love my bike and it's custom made and this was a huge mistake. I'm just trying anything I can to get it back. Thanks for your time.

[On 6/13/24, victim informed us that this bike had been recovered: "I completed a police report and Detective Jacob from the CPD called a few days later to say he had likely located it at a pawn shop at Lawrence/Kedzie via the serial number provided. He went and picked it up and took it to the 17th district for our pick-up.  He said the pawn shops are supposed to have a 30 day waiting period so this process can take place. Ironically (or maybe not),  my husband went to the same pawn shop the day prior and they denied having it.  We are very happy! Thanks!"] Bike stolen from detached garage.

MY SON RAN INTO DICK'S SPORTING GOODS IN THE GLEN SHOPPING CENTER IN GLENVIEW TO PURCHASE SOMETHING BEFORE THE STORE CLOSED. HE PLACED HIS UNLOCKED BIKE INTO A LARGE GROUP OF OTHER BIKES AND KIT WAS STOLEN. THE POLICE CAME AND TOOK HIS STATEMENT.

Bike is stored in enclosed garage on condo building. Each parking space has bike hook to hang bike. Mine was hanging on hook within my parking space, my ulock was recently stolen as well.

Stolen from bike rack in front of Central School, Glencoe, IL: 04-Jun, 08:15am-3pm.

Downstairs neighbor left garage door unlocked, thief got in at night and stole bike that was unlocked.

I can only surmise that the theft took place overnight after I arrived home around 12:40 am. The bike was locked through the front wheel onto yellow city pillar in the alley that my porch leads to. A brake disc lock was on the rear wheel. The bike with battery is 80.1lbs, and without the battery is 65.6lbs. I awoke this morning to find it completely gone, locks and all.

I parked and locked my bike outside Stan's Coffee & Donuts in Hyde Park (5225 S Harper Ct, Chicago, 60615) at 9:30 am. I checked on it again around 9:50 (I think) to see if it was still there. When I finally got my drink and left, the bike and the lock were gone. Security footage depicted a white male in khaki pants took it around 9:55 (I think). It is my only mode of transportation and I'm unable to go to work or do my job properly without it (I'm a local dog walker and need it to get me between locations).

We think we left a backdoor unlocked, and someone let themselves in and took off with my bike.
