Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I forgot to lock my bike up from my back porch in the rear of my building. The building gate that allows access to the back of the building was left unlocked, and my bike was missing the next morning.

My bike was chained to my front fence, inside our gate on our property. I always kept it locked. I rode it home from the gym this day (23rd) around 7:30 AM, and then noticed that it was missing that following Sunday the 26th . I spoke with the neighbor who has a ring security camera and we reviewed the footage but the security camera was not functioning on the 23rd. We are able to clearly see the bike there on Wednesday, the 22nd, and then I remember clearly riding it home from the gym that Thursday. The camera was fixed on Friday the 24th, and yhe bike is gone. I spoke with my other neighbors to see if there was any additional security footage, but no one had any cameras pointed in this direction.

Bike lock was cut and bike was missing

Left outside Chicago Tribune Tower bike rack on Illinois and Michigan avenue from 7 am to 4 pm. Had U-lock on it attached through rear triangle and frame to the bike rack, along with cable lock attaching through front wheel to frame.

Hey all. I mistakenly left my ebike outside in my parking lot overnight. When I returned from an errand in the morning, I engaged the wheel lock, but was planning to pick my son up from school in the evening, so I didn't lock it TO anything or take it inside. My husband did that, though, and I forgot the bike was outside altogether. The lot has a chain-link fence/gate and stays closed except when people enter or exit. When I woke up this morning, the padlock to our gate was missing, the door was open, and the bike was gone. I've asked my neighbor if there is any surveillance footage, but trying to put feelers out wherever I can.

Bike was stolen between 7 and 7:30pm from our garage, which was accidentally left open during that time. Bike was not locked in the garage. Nothing else, including a second bike, was taken.

Hi guys, my Trek Domane SL5 Gen 4 (56cm) bike was stolen adjacent to the Michigan Avenue bridge (east side) over the Chicago River on Wednesday, July 29th between the hours of 2:45pm and 5:10pm. Had a work meeting and locked my bike to a bike rack with a foldable combination lock as I didn’t have my U lock on me as a double lock.

Bike stolen off gated/locked back porch on third floor stairs. Residents frequently leave gates open/unlocked despite signs stating not to. Only 1 bike stolen despite 2 being on the rack and the other being significantly more expensive and normal sized.

I last saw my bike on the evening of July 24th, 2026. I was away from home later that night and returned home on Sunday, July 26th at roughly 6:30pm. I noticed that my bike was not present at the light post I usually lock it at, and two other bikes that belong to other residents were also gone.

Bike was stolen from under my porch in backyard. We have a fenced in yard, someone came in the back gate / opened the gate lock (simple to do), and found my bike under a tarp under the porch (I usually lock it to the porch, but unfortunately forgot to). It was there around 8pm Saturday 07/25, and noticed it gone around 10am Sunday 07/26.

The bike was locked outside Sulzer Library at 11:30 am. Upon return to bike rack at 6:30 pm, it was gone, along with the lock and my helmet.

Bike was stolen from south side of Leland Ave under metra tracks sometime between 8am and 4pm on Friday, July 17th. Reports have been made to both Metra police and CPD

Went to retrieve my delivery goods after work. Bike was in its usual locked up place in the breezeway of my apartment. When I went out for my delivery my E-bike and its lock were gone and the breezeway was left open.

-So I locked my bike with my cable lock to the Chicago Board of Trade Building’s bike racks at 2 pm, Thursday July 16 on 399 South Financial Place. -I wanted to put it there before I left for a bit on the pink line to go to a shop. -I parked my bike next to more than a dozen other bikes on these racks, there were SO many bikes. -When I came back at around 6:45 pm, my bike and all the other bikes were gone, so I assumed the business may have moved all the bikes somewhere else for some reason. -My friend and I walked inside of the building and told the security guard everything, she told me that there has been one perpetrator who has stolen multiple bikes before and they have caught him and retrieved some bikes in the past. She said this has happened before and took my name and number and told me to call the front desk tomorrow and they may have footage of the thief.

I left the overhead door to my detached garage open for approximately two minutes while letting a night nurse into my home. During that time, two unknown males entered the open garage without permission. They arrived on two bicycles, left those bicycles inside the garage, and rode away on my two bicycles. I encountered the suspects as I was walking back toward the garage and observed them leaving with my bicycles. The incident was captured on my security cameras. The bicycles the suspects left behind are believed to be stolen as well.

Bike was locked overnight to small tree at Montrose Beach. Thief cut the branches off the tree in order to remove bike.
