Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was locked overnight to small tree at Montrose Beach. Thief cut the branches off the tree in order to remove bike.

Garage was closed, and video shows the thief entering the garage door, then opening the garage. Seeing the bike and riding out. Shortly after, took my husband's bike as well. Alley door is locked and heavily secured. Assuming they climbed the gate and then came through the garage. Thief jumped our gate, got into garage, and stole the bike. Hit up most of the gates in our alleyway, may have more thefts along the 606 area

Thief was hitting every gate in the alley, jumped ours as it's padlocked, got into our garage, and stole 2 bikes out of it.

I went into my apartment for 25 Minutes to get something to eat. Bike was not locked because it was infront of my apartment where it was enclosed. Not an open area where public is allowed. Only 7 resident living there are allowed. The place has not lock. It’s the back yard of a 2nd story apartment.

Had left bike in back stairwell of building around 11:30pm. Unfortunately did not lock as I am waiting on a cable to extend. :/ several others leave bikes unlocked in same area. Individual would need to live in building or jumped the fence from neighboring building to take. Came down around 12:30pm to grab bike and found it missing.

locked to a stop sign on the parkway - within 2 hours i came back down and the bike was gone but the lock was cut and still there - during the 2 hours a lawn service did come and cut the parkway

Bike was stolen from a locked garage, overnight. We do not lock the bikes inside of the garage since it is ou rprivate, residential garage.

Bike is stored in our personal residential garage. We do not lock them inside the garage because the garage is locked.

Garage door was open, actually inside the property, not the main door

I locked my bike to a street sign outside of 216 N May St at around 6:30PM, and upon returning at 11PM, bike was gone. No evidence of lock or bike.

I locked my bike Saturday and Sunday Morning it was gone

Bike was hanging with other bikes in apartments designated storage area in an open basement area. The back area is locked, but there is no lock to enter the basement area. All bikes were stolen out of this area. This happens sometime between Tuesday 6/30/26 afternoon and Friday 7/3/26 afternoon. Landlord is unaware of anyone moving the bikes. Bike does not have a basket on it anymore.

Condo garage was accidentally left open by building tenant, bicycle stolen from wall mount inside of garage. Helmet stolen as well and went through bike bag and took charger for helmet and lights. All lights attached to bike at time of accident, battery was not stolen and was not on bike at time. Neighbor's bike stolen as well. Bike has AirTag which has not provided signal (battery dead?), also has hexlox installed on nearly all components to prevent theft. Bike computer is passcode locked. Cannot be ridden well without a battery in. Litelok X1 used for bike security but was not in use at time of incident due to it being in garage. I rode my ebike to work this morning, arriving at 200 E. Randolph at 8:55am on Thursday Oct. 16, 2025. I locked my bike using a Kryptonite U-lock to a bike stand on the east side of N. Stetson Street, across from 180 N. Stetson. The bike stand is on the west side of the Aon Building (200 E. Randolph), close to the external stairs leading up to the outdoor space of the building. I left the Aon Building at 4:50pm and found the U-lock had been cut through and the ebike stolen. I reported the theft to Aon Building security by 4:55pm, who submit the information to the Head of Security, Mark Anderson. They will be able to provide security footage.

I left my bike tucked into a corner behind a wall for work as I've done for the past few years. when I left work at 6:00, I saw my bike was missing. I asked my coworker if he had seen my bike and he said when he walked into the alley at 5 he had seen it. There was a large puddle of urine next to where I had left my bike. I suspect somebody might have went into the alley, turned the corner to pee, and saw my bike.
