Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

[On 8/19/24, victim reported that the bike had been recovered: "I was able to recover my bike today at the park it was stolen from. I ended up putting my bike description and contact information on Bike Index, Garage 529 & the Chicago Stolen Bike registry the moment it went missing and I feel like that was a good start to recovering the bike. Great services all around! I ended up searching at a local bike shop that was notorious for reselling stolen bikes near the park where my bike was stolen and had zero luck. I thought maybe it wouldn’t hurt to walk around the park and funny enough-- it was there with two teenagers on their phones. Was able to get an accurate description of the guys and verify it was really my bike by walking by them with my phone in my hand to record inconspicuously. The police were then notified and were able to apprehend them and get my bike back with just the lights missing, the handle grips swapped out & a different cupholder installed. Hope this information helps, once again thank you for having this site up for people to begin the process of recovering their bikes!!"] Fished for largemouth bass at the River Park dam spillway and left my bike underneath the bridge between the main park/soccer field & the North Park Holmgren Athletic Complex baseball field. I was fishing the point where the water spills over for about an hour and a half, and when I returned to my bike it was gone. I had stowed my bike in the gated area underneath the bridge. The bike is an XL 2020 Gray Specialized hybrid bicycle with mechanical disc brakes, adjustable front shocks, front and rear Cat Eye lights & a kick stand.

Locked bike to bike rack in front of Park Place Tower at around 6:45pm. Went out downtown and came back at 1:00AM and bike was gone

I’ve been keeping my back locked out back the last two weeks for easy access, I previously kept it locked it my laundry room, but it was hard going up and down the stairs. I didn’t realize my bike was missing until I went down to do laundry. The broken lock was left on the railing. I use this bike for Uber eats as a side job as I’m putting myself through school.

Left my bike locked to rack in the middle of the day in plain eye sight. taken within 30 min of being left there.

The bike was removed from a locked garage.

Bike was stolen from the bike room in my building between 9am 8/13 - 9am 8/14. Bike was locked through back wheels with cable lock. Lock missing along with bike.

The bike was locked during my work time, once i leave the building in front of The Merchandising Mart in N Wells x W Kinzie, it was missing!

bike was locked to window grate of my garden unit apartment around 11pm sunday night, woke up monday morning to the chain cut and the bike gone. i don't remember hearing anything to alert me of the thieves.

Around 4:30am on Friday August 9th, someone used tools to force entry into the back door and garage area of our apartment building. Once in the garage, they then proceeded to cut through the lock that was securing my bike to a metal pole and flee the scene. My neighbor heard and saw the break-in, called the police, and the police arrived but did not immediately find the suspect. A police report has been filed. My neighbor described the suspect as a white male with a mustache, baseball cap, and was wearing/carrying a backpack.

I locked my bike up because it had a flat tire so I was going to pick it up with my car and when I came back it was gone

Lock was cut and bike was stolen.

Bike parked in 163 N Dearborn, bike stole around 8:40pm. A security guy from the building across the street saw how it happened and he said they took out the sit and start riding it

Left my bike overnight at a bike rack outside of colectivo coffee. The bike was locked around the from frame through the wheel. However, someone was able to take the lock off with only a few cuts on the lock.

Bike was secured to a bike rack with two Kryptonite u-locks. Thief entered the garage of my condominium and used an angle grinder to cut both locks. I have video footage of this.
